Vaccine Hesitancy and Health Literacy

Health literacy is defined as “the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.” It affects a person's ability to access and use health care, interact with providers, and care for himself/herself and his/her children. In particular, adults with low health literacy skills are – among other obstacles to improving health - less likely to use preventive services.
